WARNING: This is not for the faint hearted. It can be confronting at times. I found out a lot of things I didn’t so much like about myself while going through process. A non-judgemental & curious approach helps. I guarantee you’ll definitely know yourself better by the end, and go forward more conscious of the contents of your consciousness. Ready? Sign up below.
Each week you’ll be set a different challenge by email. Maybe to notice or become aware of something (self awareness), maybe to analyze or assess or reflect on something (self analysis).
Most weeks you’ll need a minimum of 15 minutes, (I recommend blocking it out in your calendar). Beyond that you can spend as long as you want. Like most things in life, you’ll get back what you put in :).
Be aware of your personality, strengths, character, and values
We are all unique, but there are personality characteristics which are shared across certain groups. Knowing your type will give you insight into why you do the things you do, and also into the actions of others. What kind of person are you? What are your strengths? This week we'll find out.
Values sounds so fluffy, but it's really just a way of naming the things we care about. Do you know what you value? This week we'll verify your values.
Often we are so caught up in the now the the future we don't even consolidate on the past. Are you aware of what makes your life story different? This week we'll get clear on our stories.
Be aware of your emotions
A key part of Emotional Intelligence (EI) is the ability to recognize one's own and other people's emotions. How aware of your emotions are you? This week we bring our attention to a science based understanding of what the emotions actually are, and we get aware of the physical emotional sensations.
Be aware of your body language
Often there is a vast gap between what we think we are communicating vs what our body language is communicating. Are you aware of what your face and body might be saying? How are you communicating non-verbally? This week we get aware of our body language including micro expressions.
Start to bring awareness to the system 1 processes, the hidden ideas, biases and other parts of yourself below the surface
Time to dive a little deeper this week. Do you have any idea what is bouncing around in your unconsciousness, looking for an opportunity to surface? This week we will do a few gentle exercise to see what might come up, to get some more awareness of our subconscious minds.
Many of us may think we are not at all racist, ageist, or sexist. What about you? This week you can find out for sure, we will test our implicit biases, and see what comes up around sexuality, age, weight, race, skin tone, disability, gender, and religion.
Bring awareness to cognitive bias and cognitive distortions
Our smart human brains often interpret things in a distorted way. Are you aware of these? This week we assess some of the common distortions.

Our smart human brains often make irrational judgements. Are you aware of these? This week we assess how some the more common irrationalities affect us.
Self Awareness is a crucial part of emotional intelligence and most definitions refer to self awareness as the ability to perceive and monitor your own self – the thoughts and feelings you have and the behaviors you do. In this course we take self awareness to the next level and engage in self analysis or self reflection and look for insight into how those thoughts, feelings and behaviors arose. Self awareness and self analysis/reflection then lead you to greater self knowledge.
Mindfulness has been defined as “nonjudgmental observation of the ongoing stream of internal and external stimuli as they arise”. The practice of mindfulness is very similar if not the same as the practice of self awareness.
Know your own blind spots. Leverage your strengths. But don’t take my word for it, listen to Socrates, Spinoza, Seneca, da Vinci, Tzu, Aurelius, Nietzsche, Maslow, & Buddha.
It is the greatest good for an individual to discuss virtue every day...for the unexamined life is not worth living.

You have power over your mind - not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.
